The bone marrow leaves its scar: new concepts in pulmonary fibrosis.

چکیده
Excess collagen deposition occurs in pulmonary fibrosis. A new study suggests that collagen overproduction may originate from cells derived from bone marrow precursors rather than parenchymal lung fibroblasts.

Fibrogenesis of parenchymal organs.
Fibrosis of parenchymal organs is caused by prolonged injury, deregulation of the normal processes of wound healing, and extensive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. The current review will focus on common features of fibrogenesis in parenchymal organs, and will briefly discuss common features and differences in the pathophysiology of fibrosis. Comparison of hepatic, renal, and ...
متن کاملThe role of fibrocytes in fibrotic diseases of the lungs and heart
Fibrosis is the end result of a complex series of events that follow tissue injury and inflammation. Pathophysiologic fibrosis results in permanent scar formation, and can impair organ function. Fibrocytes are circulating, bone-marrow-derived progenitor cells that traffic from the bone marrow to the injured organ via the bloodstream, where they differentiate into fibroblasts and myofibroblasts,...
متن کاملTherapeutic Potential of Mouse Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Carbon Tetrachloride (Ccl4)-Induced Liver Fibrosis
Purpose: To study the effect of allogenic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) transplantation on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver fibrosis in mice. Materials and Methods: Fifty five female NMRI mice were divided in 5 groups, and to induce liver fibrosis CCL4 intraperitonealy was injected 1ml/Kg twice a week for 8 weeks 106 allogenic BMMSCs were infused in cell therapy group via tail v...
متن کاملRegenerative Effect of Bone Marrow-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Thioacetamide-induced Liver Fibrosis of Rats
The present study determined the regenerative effect of bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs) on thioacetamide (TA)-induced liver fibrosis in rats. A total of 30 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham control and treatment groups. The rats of the sham control group were subdivided into three groups and sampled on the 14th, 18th, and 20th weeks after fibrosis induction. The rats of th...
متن کاملNew mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis.
The understanding of the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis continues to evolve. The initial hypothetical model suggested chronic inflammation as the cause of pulmonary fibrosis, whereas a subsequent hypothesis posited epithelial injury and impaired wound repair as the etiology of fibrosis without preceding inflammation. Over the past decade, several concepts have led to refinement of these hyp...
